Horton plains is the central highlands of Sri Lanka and popular tourist destination, covered by Montanan grassland and cloud forest.The Horton plains vegetation is grassland interspersed with* Montana forest.* Large herds of Sri Lankan Sambar deer, & typical mammals,Bird,*pools and water falls,  
 The sheer precipice of word's End ( sheer precipice with 870.m drop./ situated at the southern boundary of the park ) and Baker's falls are among the tourist attraction of the park.mist can persist in the most of the day during the wet season. 
* Nearly 750 species of plants belonging to 20 families have been recorded from the park.

* 87 species of bird
 Some research finding estimate the population of sambar deer to be around 1500-2000 in the park.
